Furnirent - Refunds & Deposit Policy

At Furnirent, we aim to provide a transparent and reliable rental experience.
This Refunds & Deposit Policy explains how refunds, cancellations, and deposit returns are processed for all furniture rentals in Portugal.
By completing an order on our website, the Client agrees to the conditions below.
1. Deposit Overview
A refundable security deposit equivalent to 2 months of rent is charged at checkout.
The deposit is held for the entire duration of the rental agreement and serves to cover:
• Damages
• Missing items
• Excessive wear
• Stains or heavy cleaning
• Late return fees
• Replacement parts
• Any contract breach costs
The deposit does not count as rental payment and is not applied to future months unless agreed in writing.
2. Deposit Refund Timeline
After the rental period ends and all items are collected and inspected, the deposit is refunded within:
✔ 7–14 business days
Refund method:
• Same payment method used at checkout, OR
• IBAN transfer (if required)
If deductions are necessary, a detailed inspection report will be sent to the Client.
3. Deposit Deductions
Deductions are applied only when justified and documented.
Common reasons include:
3.1 Damage or misuse
• Broken parts
• Scratches, tears, dents
• Water damage
• Stains, burns, or strong odors
• Pet or smoke damage
3.2 Missing items
• Furniture pieces
• Cushions, legs, screws, or accessories
• Any item included in the original delivery
3.3 Cleaning or sanitation
Deep cleaning fees apply when items are returned in an unsuitable condition.
3.4 Late returns
If the Client fails to return items on time:
€25 late fee per day may be applied + the standard rental cost until the items are recovered.
3.5 Legal or collection fees
If payment failure or refusal to return items escalates to legal action, associated costs may be deducted when permitted by law.
4. Refunds on Rental Payments
4.1 Upfront payments
The initial payment (first 2 months or equivalent weeks) is non-refundable, as it covers:
• Immediate allocation of stock
• Delivery & installation planning
• Reservation of inventory
• Operational and logistical costs
4.2 Paid rental periods
After delivery, no refunds apply to unused rental periods, including early returns.
5. Order Cancellations
Before delivery
If the Client cancels before the scheduled delivery date, Furnirent may deduct:
• Administrative processing costs
• Any delivery preparation already performed
• Custom orders or special requests
After delivery
No rental payments can be refunded once the items have been delivered.
6. Failed Payments & Legal Enforcement
If the Client fails to make rental payments or refuses legitimate deposit deductions:
• Automatic retries will occur
• Services may be suspended
• Items may be collected
• Legal action may be initiated under Portuguese law
The Rental Agreement and signed Terms & Conditions allow Furnirent (Van Rossum Lda) to recover:
• Outstanding payments
• Damages
• Legal and collection fees
• Value of unreturned items
7. Early Returns
Clients may return items before the end of the rental period, but:
✔ Prepaid rental periods are not refunded
✔ Deposit refund follows the standard inspection process
